CHANNEL 6 CIRCULAR: WHERE TO FIND US IN WEEK 10
But first: A brief digression on Florida Atlantic football
Welcome to the Channel 6 Circular, our in-season replacement for TRL. For the 2026 college football season, this Friday newsletter will catch you up on what we've been writing this week, as well as let you know about any other places you can find our enormous heads and voices on the internet. You can read last week's circular here.
But first: A brief digression on Florida Atlantic football!
There is entertaining football you should be watching. Then there are the Florida Atlantic University Owls, who live in a delightful category somewhere past “must watch” and just shy of “Spanish festival fireworks accident compilation."
After entering the top five nationally in scoring offense, the Owls have spent the past three games hitting the nitrous just to watch the flames shoot out of the engine. In that span, Zach Kittley’s lads have burned 152 combined points into American Conference scoreboards, including a ridiculous sixty points last night dropped on the heads of the poor UTSA Roadrunners. (Bird-on-bird violence! The sheer horror of it all!)
Typically, the Owls rain points on opponents by turning quarterback Caden Veltkamp loose for a few quarters with wide receiver Easton Messer, and seeing what they come back with by halftime. Easton Messer’s future NFL slot receiver god status is real: Only Malachi Toney averages more touches per game, and Messer’s total (81) leads the nation among wideouts.
Last night against UTSA, however, the Owls didn’t even need circus performances. With a 35-22 lead at the half, FAU simply ran for a quarter of their total rushing yards on the season in one game, using eight different rushers to pile up 339 yards on the night. Marinate on that for just a minute: FAU’s offense is so productive, they sometimes just run the ball for fun.
The Owls play complimentary football, as in “Damn, that’s a lot of points, man.” They offer very little in the way of defense – or, at the very least, believe the best defense is an offense capable of overcoming whatever random number the defense allows. They absolutely rip, even in losses, and provide ample opportunities for ballknowers of the future to say things like “Of course second-stringer Caden Veltkamp won a playoff game for the Baltimore Ravens in the 2030 NFL playoffs; he’s been a real one since his days at FAU.”
Most importantly, the Owls put teams over, in a wrestling sense, in both wins and losses. When they beat Rice 51-49, everyone thinks the other Owls looked great in a loss against a powerful offensive team. When they lost to North Texas 48-41, it was evidence both teams brought real quality to the table. Scoring a lot by itself is fun, sure. But making every game you play more entertaining, win or lose? That’s incredible value for everyone, including the CFB viewer looking for some real deal hectic-ass football product on a work night.
P.S. Hire Zach Kittley for the next major power conference opening, we beseech you, because someone has to keep the legacy of barely reformed Air Raid football alive.

Here's everywhere else we popped up this week:
🎙️ Even by our lofty standards, Week 9's Fullcast After Dark is a terrific reminder of why you shouldn't listen to this show when your kids are in the car. (Fullcast After Dark is free to listen live on streaming and replays on Patreon for $4/month)
🎙️ Several hours after that ^^^ episode went up, we had to go right back to work to discuss the long-awaited ousting of Mike Norvell. (This episode available via Patreon for $4/month)
🎙️ In Tuesday's episode of the Shutdown Fullcast, we re-animated our Fired Coaches Draft, and also determined which college football teams should be permitted to take performance-enhancing drugs. (Regular midweek Shutdown Fullcast episodes are available free to listeners, as always)
🎙️ In our first four-show week and second two-show day of the season, we got back on the mics Wednesday to unpack our assorted election feelings. (This episode available via Patreon for $4/month)
📺 Spencer joined our old pal Tony Reali to retrace the steps of the Kick Six:
Those of you on our free email list are about to see a paywall jump; the back half of this newsletter contains the invitation link and details for Thing 3 of Week 8: WEBINAR, our weekly stakeholders-only Saturday morning pregame chat show.
If you'd like to join a paid tier of Ch6 membership (again, that’s two things a week for either $10 a month or $100 for a year), you can join us for these live hangouts all season long, as well as gain access to everything we put out on Channel 6 platforms PLUS the entire back catalog.
And if this is where we leave you for the week, thanks for reading. As is customary, we would like you to have this picture of a bird for a parting gift:
