DON'T GIVE UP THE 'SHIP

Join us for what's become an annually recurring celebration of Michigan's Charity Bowl win, observed the best way we know how (by throwing a Saturday night rager in the library)

After 20 (TWENTY??!!) iterations of the EDSBS Charity Bowl, even we are running out of words to show our gratitude for what this community does every time we ask y'all to show up for our neighbors. The final tally of the 2026 contest, with corporate matching gifts folded in, ended at over $1.76 million given by more than 5,600 donors in support of New American Pathways. Of that amount, close to $300,000 came from fans of the University of Michigan. All three of these numbers are new records. One of these years, we will stop being surprised by what you people are capable of. That year is not this year.

Since 2019, we've been honoring the winning Charity Bowl progrum with a free live show in their town. Since well before 2019, that team has been the Wolverines. So here we go again: Your humble Channel 6 news team will be motoring up to Ann Arbor next weekend and posting up in our favorite spot, the downtown branch of the library. We'll hold court on the lobby stage from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday night; the library closes at 8, and our long-tenured team of fundraising buddies at MGoBlog have declared themselves to be in charge of the afterparty, should you be brave/foolhardy enough to follow a bunch of podcasters to a second location for snacks and drinks.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: This is a very casual event! No tickets, no charge to attend. The entire purpose of this trip is to show up, hug some necks, and thank our most powerful horde of Bowl donors in person. We will also, per tradition, be bringing a selection of exclusive EDSBS Extended Universe merch to give away.

PROGRAMMING NOTE: We've got a brand-new show written especially for our target audience this year, and it's one we've wanted to do for a very long time. The name of the show is SHIPWRECKS, RANKED. We're also bringing an honored guest, an intrepid explorer in his own right, Impossible Owls author and our great friend, Brian Phillips.

If this sounds like fun to you, do us a favor and throw in an RSVP here, just so we can turn up with a vaguely appropriate amount of loot for everybody.

TL;DR come spend a lovely Saturday night with us in the library. If you're around, we'd love to see you. If not, we're going to try and get it recorded by the library's intrepid tech team, which has already defeated the Fullcast haint once before to produce the best-sounding live show in program history.
